The moment I realized I was gaining weight was a little hard to swallow. At the present moment I am the heaviest I have ever been. It is shocking how much time has passed. It just sneaked up on me.
Instead of feeling sorry for myself or hating my body, I purposely decided to love myself even more. This means appreciating my body, not punishing myself for loving food, and taking the time to nourish my soul.
How do you love yourself more?
- Give yourself love
This means being your own best friend. Give yourself hugs when you feel sad. Go to bed at a decent hour so that your body is well rested. Feed yourself healthy meals so that your body gets the proper nutrients it needs and spending more time with yourself so you can get to know yourself more.
- Accept where you are in life
Your life is not perfect and that is ok. Nothing is wrong with wanting more for your life or having goals, but you need to be grateful for where you are right now. You have come a long way just to be where you are now and to have the blessings you currently have. Rejoice!
- Take charge
Take responsibility for where you are in your life. If you are unsatisfied with any aspect of your life, change it. Refuse to let fear take over your life. Dare to step outside your comfort zone and make the necessary steps to get to to where you want to be.
- Give yourself time
Nothing is going to happen over night. Real change takes time because it happens slowly. If you are impatient like myself, this step can be the hardest because there will be moments when you feel discouraged. In spite of that, you must have faith! Otherwise your journey will be full of emotional turmoil.
When you consistently practice these strategies you will learn to fall in love with yourself all over again. You deserve it.
